Hip & Groin Pain

The hip joint is a large ball and socket joint surrounded by a complex arrangement of ligaments, tendons and large muscles. The hip is not only a strong robust joint capable of carrying the bodies weight but also a very flexible one enabling us to squat, crouch, bend, sit, walk, cycle and many other tasks. Commonly seen hip injuries can include muscle strains, labral tears, ligament sprains, tendonitis as well as Osteoarthritis.

The groin is the area either side of the pubic bone between the abdomen and upper thigh. Typical complaints in this area are muscle strains and tendon irritations, especially involving the adductor muscles. Groin strains can occur as a result of overuse or suddenly following a sporting injury.

Treatment of hip and groin pain will involving assessing the area and surrounding soft tissue to help diagnose the cause of your pain and plan a treatment program tailored to your individual needs. Techniques used in the treatment process can include manual therapy and soft tissue work along with a home exercise program to help restore strength and function.
